Description: A device that regulates the flow of water by opening, closing, or partially obstructing various passageways. The focus of the data set is on assets that are owned or operated by Loudoun Water. However, the data set also includes features that are connected to Loudoun Water's network, but are owned and/or operated by another entity. The geographic area covered by this dataset is eastern Loudoun County (referred to as the 'Central System') and various isolated 'Community Systems' elsewhere in the County. Data are updated on a daily basis by multiple editors; edits are tracked using the MetaID attribute which relates to the MetaID table that provides feature-level metadata.

Description: Control valves are valves used to control pressure and flow by fully or partially opening or closing in response to signals received from controllers that compare a "setpoint" to a "process variable" whose value is provided by sensors that monitor changes in such conditions. The focus of the data set is on assets that are owned or operated by Loudoun Water. However, the data set also includes features that are connected to Loudoun Water's network, but are owned and/or operated by another entity. Description: Pipe (typically buried below the ground) used to convey reclaimed (non-potable) water under pressure. Reclaimed water is not fit for human consumption or contact and is used primarily for industrial cooling and irrigation. The water is generated from highly-treated wastewater effluent. The focus of the data set is on assets that are owned or operated by Loudoun Water. However, the data set may also include features that are connected to Loudoun Water's network, but are owned and/or operated by another entity. The geographic area covered by this dataset is eastern Loudoun County (referred to as the 'Central System') and various isolated 'Community Systems' elsewhere in the County. Pipes within the Central System are supplied reclaimed water from Loudoun Water's Broad Run Water Reclamation Facility in Ashburn. Data are updated on a daily basis by multiple editors; edits are tracked using the MetaID attribute which relates to the MetaID table that provides feature-level metadata.
